How pretty are these crinkle cookies?! I just love the rich, vibrant red!
Everyone will be so impressed when they see these gorgeous cookies on your dessert buffet or in their Christmas goody baskets!
And they taste like chocolate! Woo hoo!!!
Because these cookies start with a cake mix they are incredibly easy and almost impossible to mess up.
They are also a tad bit messy. Yes, you will have powdered sugar on your counter, your hands, and probably yourself. But it’s pretty easy to clean up.
Just remember how beautiful and scrumptious they are!
As you know, I’m a HUGE believer in using parchment. You don’t need to wash your cookie sheets between batches, your cookies will never stick or spread too much, and there is virtually no clean-up!
Next, mix together everything but the powdered sugar.
I like my trusty KitchenAid for this but you can use a hand mixer or do it by hand.
Just look at that color!
Now pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes so the dough is easier to work with.
While that’s happening, sift about 1/2 cup powered sugar into a bowl. I sift it first to get out lumps and fluff it up so it coats better.
Using a small cookie scoop (or a heaping tablespoon), drop a scoop full of dough into the powdered sugar and use a spoon to cover it.
And here’s where it starts getting messy. Pick up the dough and roll it in your hands to form a ball.
Put the coated dough balls on the cookie sheet a couple of inches apart.
Bake these for 9-11 minutes. Start with 9 minutes. They crinkling as they bake, if the red part looks wet let them go another minute or two. Mine took 10 minutes.
Let them cool on the cookie sheet for a minute then transfer them to a cooling rack.
After they’re completely cool, store them in a tightly covered container.
