Are you ready for some footbaaaaaalll?!?!
You will be when you have these Pepperoni Pizza Sliders to nosh on!
These sliders are party perfect. This recipe makes a dozen at a time. If you need more, just bake an extra batch or two in foil pans. Touchdown!
And you can even prep them a day ahead, for the extra point!
A word about the slider buns. Kings Hawaiian rolls are the first kind I ever used but they left a big gap around the edges of the pan.
I used some from Pepperidge Farms for a potluck recently. They were whole wheat, which was nice. But they were partially split and had to be separated to use.
The ones I’m using today are from Sara Lee. They fit the pan nicely and I could cut them all at once.
So…you have options. Any small roll or bun will work.
Start by splitting your rolls/buns horizontally. Don’t separate into individual rolls.
Carefully lay the bottom half in a 9″x13″ pan and spread it with some pizza sauce. This was slightly over 1/2 cup. I wanted to get edge to edge coverage.
Layer on 6 slices of cheese.
Then the pepperoni. I used the about 3/4 of the package. Be sure to overlap them a bit for good coverage.
Next another layer of cheese!
That top half of the buns? Flip it over and spread it with more sauce.
Then carefully place it sauce side down in the pan. I warn you, this can get a little messy.
Finally, that buttery sauce I promised.
Place the butter in a microwave safe bowl (I usually use a glass measuring cup) and melt the butter. Stir in the italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Brush or drizzle this lovely concoction over the sliders.
Bake them uncovered for 15-20 minutes. Let them stand for a few minutes then cut them into individual sliders with a sharp knife.
Serve with the remaining pizza sauce.
