Gravy from drippings is the best way to make gravy, imo. But what to do when you deep fry your turkey and don’t have any drippings?
Or you just want lots and lots of gravy? (And in my opinion, you can never have too much gravy!)
This turkey gravy recipe is a rich and flavorful alternative.
Start by making a roux of butter and flour.
Let the roux cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly, to let the raw flour taste cook out.
Then slowly whisk in the turkey broth until the mixture is smooth.
Finally, whisk in the remaining ingredients.
Quick note: Not all grocery stores carry the turkey base. If you have trouble finding it you can order it online, substitute with chicken base, or just leave it out. But it gives the gravy an extra hit of turkey flavor.
Let the gravy simmer for a few minutes until it’s thickened. Add some salt and/or pepper to taste.
To quote Ina, “How easy is that?!”.
