This creamy cole slaw is the perfect side dish for your summer parties. It goes together in 5 minutes with only 3 ingredients and tastes just like made-from-scratch.
The best part is that it pairs perfectly with everything…ribs, chicken, bbq, pork, even burgers. In fact, it’s fantastic on burgers.

Summer is officially here! Ok, June 21st is technically the first day of summer. But this is Memorial Day weekend. So the possibility that we’ll be grilling all weekend (weather permitting) is pretty high.
This cole slaw recipe is the perfect side dish because it goes with everything, it’s quick and easy, most people like cole slaw, and it makes a big batch.
Two quick things about this recipe.
1) As with most cole slaw recipes, the earlier you make it, the better it tastes. It’s so quick and easy that you can throw it together in the morning while you’re waiting for that first cup of joe to brew or, better yet, make it the day before.
I did this batch at about 8:00 am. The fnished pictures below are at dinner time.
2) It makes a big batch, if you don’t need so much, the recipe is really easy to cut in half.
Here is the trifecta of ingredients.
Start by tossing the cole slaw mix into a really big bowl, you want plenty of room to toss everything around. I like the kind of slaw mix that has the different cabbages and carrots.
Next, pour the slaw dressing over the slaw mix. I use Marzzetti slaw dressing. Look for it on the aisle by the mayonnaise. Where I shop, it’s usually towards the bottom.
I’ve used this slaw dressing since I was a newbie cook and it’s never let me down. It’s easy to use and tastes just like you made it from scratch.
Then sprinkle the celery seeds over the top. It’s the celery seeds that give it that homemade touch, as well as incredible flavor.
Finally, toss it all together. Really mix it up well. It will look too dry at first, but as the vinegar in the dressing starts to soften the cabbage it will get nice and creamy.
Cover it and pop it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. It tastes better if you can give it a quick stir once or twice. Look how creamy it got after a day in the fridge!
Hubby likes his with a dash of paprika, I like mine with a couple of grinds of fresh cracked pepper.
