My daughter is what I like to call a “selective eater”. But one thing she’ll always eat is mac and cheese. Unless it has something green in it, then all bets are off.
She is a true connoisseur. She will actually judge a restaurant based on the quality of their mac and cheese.
So when I make a mac and cheese recipe, it’s always with her in mind.
This recipe doesn’t disappoint. It’s loaded with bacon and ground beef. It’s gooey and creamy just like good mac and cheese should be.
Start by cooking the pasta according to the instructions on the box. I used this corkscrew pasta because it catches the cheese sauce.
Drain the pasta and just let it sit.
Next, in the same pot, cook the ground beef until it’s no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Drain it and toss it back into the pot.
Add the bacon bits and stir it around for a couple of minutes.
Then add the rest of the ingredients and stir it until the cheeses are melted.
Then return the pasta to the pot and give it a good stir.
Serve immediately. The cheese will tighten when the heat is off so keep it warm and add a little extra milk if need be.
